HOW IT WORKS:
EmberFlo™ FAQ . . .
-
The smokeless fire pits that have been around for a few years look like a large metal canister with air holes around the base and the top. These fire pits have a primary combustion within the canister that is inefficient and a secondary combustion on top of the can that is more efficient. The secondary combustion is fueled by heated air and is basically re-burning the smoke from the primary combustion. EmberFlo™ fire pits have only a primary combustion that is highly efficient thanks to our patent-pending design that provides a steady column of heated air directly into the fire. This smolderless™ technology burns clean and hot right down to the last glowing coals. The EmberFlo™ advantage is that you get to enjoy all the heat and light from the primary combustion rather than hiding it down inside a can. With the EmberFlo™ fire pit, you see and feel ALL of the fire at an ideal height for relaxing and gathering.
-
No wood fire is truly smokeless. This term is used for fire pits, like the EmberFlo™, that produce minimal smoke due to highly efficient combustion. We’ve all had the experience of sitting around a smokey fire that stings your eyes and stinks up your clothes… no fun.
-
While the EmberFlow™ fire pit can be moved, we recommend creating a dedicated spot in your outdoor space for it. You should always keep the fire pit at least 15 feet away from any structures and ensure there is nothing within 20 feet above the fire pit, including tree limbs and power lines.
-
Most any firewood can be used, so long as it is adequately dried. We recommend kiln-dried hardwood (like oak, hickory, and pecan) that has been stored out of the weather. Ideal firewood has a moisture content of less than 12%. If your wood is not kiln-dried, it should be split and stacked until the moisture content reaches this level. Firewood with too much moisture in it will burn poorly and create smoke, no matter how “smokeless” your fire pit is. We don’t recommend burning any kind of lumber or wooden pallet material, as they often have chemicals added to the wood.
-
Start the fire in your EmberFlo™ fire pit using a fire starter and dry, split kindling wood. Then add some smaller pieces of wood (wrist sized) before adding any full-sized logs. The air flow through the EmberFlo™ fire pit will help your fire start quickly.
-
Maintenance is pretty minimal with the EmberFlo™ fire pit. Once the metal, coals, and ashes have cooled to ambient temperature, have a friend help you lift the cage and fire grate off so you can clean out the ashes that have accumulated underneath.
